Description

Our bottles come in two sizes: 700ml, which is our standard for our main releases; and for some of our expressions, 100ml minis. Sourness, or sharpness of sherbet; more sharp than lemon, but not overpowering to cause a face spasm.

Nose: Sweet briny smokiness with distinct island character and playful notes that hint at mild antiseptic, creosote, wax polish, mint chocolate and floral seaside aromas. Fully matured in a Sherry Butt, this peated single cask brings notes of dark chocolate orange, toasted honeycomb and rich oak spice. Where it differs from Tobermory whisky is that it is distilled from heavily peated malted barley, giving the liquid a highly distinctive, light yet smoky and peaty flavour. it is a serious sipper that doesn't bring an ounce of sweetness, meaning it might possibly be good for use as a serious old fashioned cocktail dare I say?

Unlike its unpeated Tobermory counterpart, Ledaig is known for its robust and smoky character, imbued with the rich, briny flavors of the island. Fully matured in Bordeaux red wine casks, with layers of heather and pine cones, intertwining with woody sea salt leading to floral notes and lime pastilles. Ledaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky, produced at the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, offers a remarkable peated profile that stands out among Scottish whiskies. Using peated barley from the Port Ellen maltings (around 37 ppm if you're interested) this is a bold and punchy whisky that belies it's light and delicate appearance. Peaty whisky from Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, named after a previous incarnation of the distillery.

This outstanding malt will put a smile on the face of every peat lover and its origin may also surprise you… By using this. The distillery has been in and out of production since it was founded in 1798 by John Sinclair, even having been used as a power station during the 1930s, but is now in the hands of Burn Stewart Distillers.

A perfect balance of sweet and floral aromas with warming sea salt and smoke, this makes a perfect festive gift or treat for yourself!
