Description

The greatest classic of fantasy fiction and one of the most celebrated stories of all time, The Lord of the Rings defined a genre and created a world that inspires and enchants to this day. Boxed gift set of Tolkien’s classic masterpieces, fully illustrated throughout in watercolour by the acclaimed and award-winning artist, Alan Lee, Conceptual Designer on Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT films. This set actually robs us of any new insight we were expecting by PJ’s decade of promises about unreleased documentary material.

This heavily detailed metal ingot featuring the Elf Doors of Durin from Lord of the Rings is limited to only 2001 worldwide and each piece is individually numbered. This deluxe slipcased edition of The Hobbit, printed and bound using superior materials including a silk ribbon marker, features the definitive text, plus Tolkien’s paintings and drawings in full colour, and a special fold-out version of Thror’s Map. Both his parents died when Tolkien was young and he and his brother lived with a relative and later on, in boarding houses. The film received 11 Academy Awards® in 2003: Best Picture, Director (Peter Jackson), Adapted Screenplay, Art Direction / Set Direction, Costume Design, Editing, Makeup, Score, Original Song (Into the West), Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects.

The story began as a sequel to Tolkien's earlier, less complex children's fantasy novel The Hobbit (1937), but eventually developed into a much larger work. Hosted by Stephen Colbert via Zoom, this reunion features your favorite Hobbits, Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan. Cover illustrations by Tolkien (Lothlorien, Fangorn, Dunharrow) – these impressions of the Second Edition (16th, 14th, 14th) were the first appearance of these new cover designs.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002): In the middle chapter of this historic movie trilogy, the Fellowship is broken, but its quest to destroy the One Ring continues. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001): With the help of a courageous Fellowship, Frodo (Elijah Wood) embarks on a perilous mission to destroy the legendary One Ring. I think I was quite lucky to get one of these sets – pretty sure they completely sold out soon after going on sale.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in South Africa in 1892 and moved to England with his family while still a child. Continuing my quest for the perfect Unwin Books set (the first 3-volume paperback edition) of The Lord of the Rings… These are very nice, and the sleeve is the best I’ve seen. This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. This HD set features extensive special features like the lord of the rings extended editions about 20 years ago! If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. If this collector’s set had included a mass of new “extras” (as I am sure it could have done: given the immensity of the production, there must have been a huge amount of behind-the-scenes video shot, and a retrospective documentary on Peter Jackson’s version of Middle-earth would also now have been timely), then I might have faced a difficult decision. De luxe boxed gift set of Tolkien’s most popular and charming tales; full of wit and humour, giants, dragons, magic and more, they are collected together for the first time and will delight readers of all ages.Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. This sumptuous gift set includes a replica of the very rare first edition of The Hobbit, the only edition where one can now read the original version of the story before Tolkien re-edited it to become the one enjoyed by readers since 1951. In the Lay of the Völsungs is told the ancestry of the great hero Sigurd, the slayer of Fáfnir, most celebrated of dragons; of his awakening of the Valkyrie Brynhild, who slept surrounded by a wall of fire, and of their betrothal; and of his coming to the court of the great princes who were named the Niflungs (or Nibelungs), with whom he entered into blood-brotherhood. Follow Bilbo Baggins, who – along with the Wizard Gandalf and 13 Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield – is swept into an epic and treacherous quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

The packaging is very nice, with each film getting its own case, each LOTR one holding 6 discs, each Hobbit one holding 4 discs. The 4k versions have no bonus features whatsoever, not even the audio commentaries, which is odd as with the LOTR trilogy they still span two discs apiece, and they are reportedly 100GB discs, so you get a perhaps unnecessarily high bit rate on those. The covers are nice enough, cloth bound and colourful, but the paper is of fairly poor quality and browns easily.
